ON-LINE PROGRAMS

Can’t travel for training but want the Northeast Public Safety Divers quality training programs for your team? We got you covered! One of the few good things that came out of the Covid Pandemic is we designed three online classes that we can provide your team!

Tender Operations Online

This course is the full-scale ERDI Tender Operations certification course conducted entirely online. Students will be taught live-lecture format by one (or more) of our highly qualified and experienced instructors, and the course will carry the full ERDI certification card for Tender Operations.

What is a dive operation without safety? How ‘good’ can an underwater search really be without consistency? How well can a public safety diver actually perform their task if they start their dive already tired from getting ready by themselves?
Answer: Crapshoot across the board.

Since public safety dive teams shouldn’t be in the business of “winging-it”, how can we build a foundation to fix all those problems in one shot and deliver professional, safe, and consistent service? With skilled and well-trained dive tenders.

If you’ve never heard of us, we are Northeast Public Safety Divers and we are one of the leading ERDI Training Facilities in the Northeast. Our mission is simple: Elevate the craft of public safety diving from “well this is the way we’ve always done it” to “we operate according to the national standards in use by professional dive teams nationwide”.

Course Overview
This course comes in two parts:
Part one is the ERDI E-Learning section to be completed by the student prior to Part two.
Part two is a live lecture format (online, ~3 hours) with our experienced instructors, where we reinforce the material already learned and bring it to life with our real-world operational experience. There will be discussions, question-and-answer sessions, demonstrations, and the opportunity to pick our brains on any aspect of the course material.

Since each one of our instructors are veteran public safety divers on active dive teams, many of those answers will come complete with how an actual operation happened in the real world, and what techniques were used to carry out that mission or mitigate that problem. After successful completion of both parts, students will receive an ERDI Tender Operations certification card (internationally recognized) that shows their ability to assist as a tender on a live dive operation.

This course is the second level of proficiency as a dive tender (Awareness -> Operations -> Technician) and is the first level that permits the graduate to work on the dive scene in an operational role. This certification can be upgraded to Tender Technician by any ERDI instructor after the student completes the in-field portion of the course.

Now, if you get your Tender Awareness certification through us with this course, we factor that into the cost of a Tender Technician course in the future if you want us to do your upgrade.

Course Learning Objectives
During this course the student will learn:

  1. The role of the dive tender on an operation
  2. How a dive operation is set up, and how it can develop over time
  3. General familiarity with diver equipment and how to dress and assist a diver
  4. Line pull signals, and how to guide a diver through search patterns
  5. How to maintain consistency in an underwater search so no targets are missed
  6. How to maintain vigilance over a diver’s safety and well-being
  7. Procedures for emergencies…
    And much more!

ERDI Contaminated Water Operations Online

If there is one category of diving that will separate the PSD from a recreational diver, it’s contaminated water. And if you are diving operations such as a body recovery, vehicle recovery, or even stagnant water, then you’re in contaminated water. We dive contaminated water, we should be trained for contaminated water.

Good news! NePSD has been given permission to offer the ERDI Contaminated Water Operations certification course online! As a refresher, course certification levels are Awareness -> Operations -> Technician.

Water contaminants can severely hurt a diver immediately…or years later. Even worse, we can bring the contaminants home to our families. This training is critical. If you are an active PSD and DO NOT have a contaminated water certification… Join us.
Don’t wait either, NePSD is the only ERDI training facility offering this course right now and we expect spots to fill up extremely quickly.

ERDI Underwater Criminal Investigation Course

The purpose of the ERDI Underwater Crime Scene Investigations program is to provide necessary skills and knowledge in performing underwater crime scene investigations, preservation and proper documentation for court ready testimony.

We teach you the real skills behind properly collecting evidence underwater…

The trained and qualified underwater crime scene investigator sits at the peak of the public safety diving industry.

These divers are fully capable of carrying a criminal investigation into a body of water, in a way where their findings are acceptable and admissible in criminal court and can be used to prosecute wrong-doers.

Overview of the Program

UWCSI courses are for law enforcement and emergency response personnel (firefighters) who may be first on the scene of a underwater crime scene investigation.

Responders are expected to understand the constitution, responding, preparing the crime scene, death investigations, medical aspects, fingerprints, characteristics of bodies in water, recovery procedures, and court ready documentation.

This course is open to sworn law enforcement, firefighters, and/or other members of a recognized public safety dive team. That includes non-diving personnel such as shore personnel, tenders, and support personnel.

We insist on teaching with an interactive environment.

Ever sat through a boring lecture where all you do is listen to someone talk for hours with no break, and no change? Our classes are the complete opposite!

We will pose engaging questions, help you work through the concepts instead of just dumping them on you, and get you up and moving with props, containers, demonstrations, tools, and examples.

What you take from this class will be largely determined by what you put into it

The instructors will not leave until you understand what we’re teaching

Have you ever had a class or course end… but you still had questions? And your only choice was to stand near the instructor awkwardly while they packed up… Hoping they would notice you and come over? That won’t be happening here

Yes, we have been accidentally locked inside a lecture hall because the maintenance staff thought we were long gone…

Yes, we’ve arrived home at midnight because a concept wasn’t addressed enough…

Yes, we leave class only to meet up and have staff meetings for another few hours… JUST to make sure we cover it all.

And we’ll do it the same way every time.

Bonuses! You get more than just the class!

Your New Family

Every one of our students becomes part of our family, a role we take seriously. That means you can call any one of us, at any time, for advice, questions, help on how to approach a scene or problem… or we might even show up if you got something good going on.

Honestly, the coolest thing for an instructor is to receive a consultation call at an odd hour… because your students are out there doing the job you trained them for and they want to know even more.

Our commitment to provide you with the most comprehensive information does not end when you leave the building. You will have our cell phone numbers, personal email, social media, etc. All at your encouraged disposal.

The time to make some major improvements to your dive operation is now! To Sign Up: Send us an email with your information to tandro@northeastpsd.com
