UCI Ice Diver Specialist Distinctive Specialty

The Goals Of Underwater Criminal Investigator Ice Diver Specialist Is To:

  1. Develop your practical knowledge of UCI Ice Diving.
  2. Increase your diving skills in and around ice.
  3. Plan, organize, and make UCI Ice Diver Specialist dives in a safe and proficient manner.
  4. Improve your diving ability and provide you with additional supervised experience while operating on ice.
  5. Provide you with the necessary skills to set up and execute an UCI Ice Diver Specialist Dives.

Prerequisite Certifications

  1. PADI Public Safety Diver (or a qualifying certification) 
  2. PADI Ice Diver (or a qualifying certification)
  3. PADI Full Face Mask Diver (or a qualifying certification)
  4. PADI Dry Suit Diver (or a qualifying certification
  5. Minium Age 18 years old

Specialty Equipment Required By Students Taking The Course.

  • Exposure suit appropriate for ice diving environment and depth, including hood, boots and gloves or mitts.
  • Personal dive gear, Regulators must be suitable for cold water use.
  • A redundant air source, such as a pony bottle and Regulators must be suitable for cold water use.
  • Drysuit
  • Full face mask
  • Pony bottle minimum of 30cuF
  • Three different style cutting devices.
  • Ice Cleats
  • PFD
  • Harness with locking carabineer
  • Dive light, Two lights are recommended, a primary and a backup.
  • Personal clothing for adequate exposure protection at the surface
  • Drinks and snacks
