UCI Surface Supply Air Distinctive Specialty

The Goals Of Underwater Criminal Investigator Surface Supply Air Training Is To:

  1. Develop practical knowledge of UCI surface supply air diver with hardhat and/or full face mask
  2. Plan, organize, and make Underwater Criminal Investigator surface supply air dives.
  3. To establish a foundation in Underwater Criminal Investigations while using surface supply air system.
  4. To familiarize the student with the use of special equipment, communication procedures, search patterns needed, evidence recovery techniques, criminal investigative procedures, and documentation requirements.
  5. To enable the student to engage in Underwater Criminal Investigations within depths and conditions as good as or better than those in which they have been trained safely to conduct while using surface supply air.
  6. To meet and/or address specific NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) Public Safety Diving Standards found in NFPA 1006 and 1670.

Prerequisite Certification:

  1. Minimum Age 18 years.
  2. PADI advanced open water diver or a qualifying certification. 
  3. PADI Public Safety Diver or a qualifying certification. 
  4. PADI Full Face Mask Diver or a qualifying certification. 
  5. PADI DRY Suit Diver or a qualifying certification. 
  6. If open water training dives will be conducted between 18 metres/60 feet and 30 meters/100 feet, the prerequisite certification must be Advanced Open Water Diver or a qualifying certification. 
  7. If open water training dives will be conducted between 30 metres/100 feet and 40 meters/130 feet, the prerequisite certification must be PADI Deep Diver or a qualifying certification.
