This past weekend public safety divers from five different teams and three separate states took to the ice to earn their ERDI Ice Diver technician certification.
Day one was spent in the classroom learning how to safely operate and dive the demanding conditions, while days two and three were spent out on the ice. Access, safety, setting up their dive, managing conditions, emergency procedures, and thin ice techniques were just some of the techniques these divers practiced and experienced.
The students braved 20-degree temperatures, frozen equipment, snow, and of course the 14″ of unforgiving ice… all to earn the coveted ERDI ice diver technician certification.
These students are now trained and equipped to better serve their communities during the winter months… and we couldn’t be any more proud of them.
Congratulations to all the new ice divers!
